Lava Comparison
Infernus vs Magma Core
Comparing Infernus and Magma Core, both Lava worlds in Starforge MMO. They share a planet class, so they compete for the same colony slot — the better target depends on resource yields and how hard each is to settle.
Resource Yields & Colonization
| Attribute | Infernus | Magma Core |
|---|---|---|
| Atmosphere | toxic | thin |
| Colonizable | Yes | Yes |
| Colonization difficulty | 5 | 4▼ |
| Antimatter yield | 0.6× | 0.8×★ |
| Crystal yield | — | 1.1× |
| Metal yield | 3.0×★ | 1.9× |
★ marks the higher resource yield multiplier; ▼ marks the lower (easier) colonization difficulty. A world without a needed resource shows “—”.
Infernus
Lava
Infernus is a hellscape of active supervolcanoes, continent-spanning lava flows, and a sulphur-dioxide atmosphere that eats through standard hull plating in under three hours. The geological violence constantly brings fresh mineral-rich magma to the surface, resulting in the highest raw metal yields of any known planet — if you can survive long enough to collect them. Only the most extreme-environment colonization technology allows any permanent presence on this world.
Magma Core
Lava
Magma Core is a younger, slightly less catastrophic sibling to Infernus — its lava flows are slower and its atmosphere thin enough for armoured surface operations without full hull-grade protection. The planetary core is unusually rich in rare mineral composites, with veins of crystal and trace antimatter precursors threaded through the basalt. Colonization is dangerous but rewarding for players willing to invest in heat-resistant infrastructure.
Which Planet Should You Colonize?
Magma Core carries the higher combined resource yield, making it the stronger long-term economy world. Magma Core is easier to settle (lower colonization difficulty), so it is the safer early pick when you cannot yet field a heavy colony fleet.
