Iron Titan — battleship class spaceship of the terran-federation
battleship★★★★Tier 4

Iron Titan

Faction: terran federation

Overview

The Iron Titan is the Terran Federation's apex heavy battleship — the hull that fleet commanders request when they need a sector taken and held by brute force alone. Armoured in the same layered ferro-titanium plating as the Iron Fortress but scaled to battleship mass, it mounts twin siege railguns capable of penetrating station armour at extreme range, backed by a broadside battery of heavy kinetic cannons and a point-defence grid dense enough to intercept entire torpedo salvoes. Where the Juggernaut is a siege engine, the Titan is a battle-winner: fast enough to close with fleeing enemies and tough enough to absorb the fire that comes with doing so.

Lore

The Iron Titan was not designed by committee, unlike most Federation warships. Admiral Varya Senko drew the initial specs herself after the third time an enemy fleet escaped a battle that should have been a total destruction. She wanted a battleship that combined the Iron Fortress's endurance with enough speed to run down anything that tried to run. The engineers said it could not be built within mass limits. She told them the mass limits were wrong.

Tactics

  1. 1

Open at long range with the Twin Siege Railguns — their armour-penetration is exceptional and they begin strip-mining enemy hull integrity before the broadside batteries even come into range.

  2. 2

Use the Iron Titan's above-average battleship speed (32) to run down damaged enemies attempting to disengage — it is one of the few heavy battleships fast enough to enforce a battle on an unwilling opponent.

  3. 3

In coordinated fleet actions, use the Iron Titan as a hard-charging assault spearhead: its armour absorbs the opening salvo while faster ships exploit the chaos created by its advance.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

  • +Hull of 4200 combined with four armour slots makes it one of the most durable battleships available to any Tier 4 Federation commander.
  • +Twin Siege Railguns provide long-range armour-penetrating firepower that is effective against hardened targets most battleships cannot crack.
  • +Speed of 32 is exceptional for a heavy battleship, giving it genuine pursuit capability that most capital ships lack entirely.

Weaknesses

  • Significant resource cost — especially the antimatter component — places it out of reach for commanders who have not secured reliable exotic-resource supply lines.
  • Anti-Capital Missiles are its primary answer to enemy capital ships, and they can be saturated by a well-organised point-defence screen.
  • At Tier 4, it faces competition from the TFS Hammerfist for fire-support roles; the Titan is less specialised but more rounded, which in niche scenarios is a disadvantage.

Recommended Modules

  • ferro titanium armour plate
  • railgun bore stabiliser
  • engine overdrive core
