Overview

The Kraken Battleship is proof that the Void Syndicate can build more than shadows. When subtlety fails and a sector must be seized by brute force, the Syndicate deploys the Kraken — a vessel of truly oppressive mass, wrapped in reactive void-alloy armour and bristling with heavy batteries. Its hull is so dense that standard torpedoes often detonate on the outer plating without reaching primary systems. Enemies who have faced the Kraken in open space describe the experience in the same terms: inevitable.

Lore

The Syndicate insists the Kraken does not officially exist. A ship that size, appearing without warning in a contested system and departing with the sector's mineral rights transferred to Syndicate accounts, has a way of making official denials somewhat academic.

Tactics

    Open engagements with the Rail-Mass Drivers at maximum range before closing to Void Annihilator Cannon range — soften target shields before the big guns speak.

    Deploy the Point-Defence Network in an active intercept pattern before advancing; incoming torpedo salvoes are the Kraken's main threat at range.

    Use the Kraken as a fleet anchor in coordinated battles: its mass and armour force enemies to dedicate excessive firepower to it while your other ships flank freely.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

  • +Oppressive hull of 2800 and reactive void-alloy armour means standard torpedoes often fail to penetrate outer plating, making it nearly unkillable by conventional fleets.

Weaknesses

  • Agonisingly slow at speed 28 — coordinating it with faster fleet elements requires significant planning and often leaves it isolated.
  • Enormous resource cost and 14,400-second build time mean losing a Kraken is a campaign-defining setback.
  • Large sensor profile makes it impossible to employ any element of surprise; enemies will always know it's coming and have time to prepare.
